Fire Emblem Weapon Rank Easy Level Up

Fire Emblem Awakening

is a tough game, and while the story missions and paralogues can supply you with more than enough experience points for leveling up some of your soldiers, they still aren't the best option for every character in your army. You have a lot of units, and if they're going to be useful, you'll need some extra training. Here are some options for helping turn your weaklings into warriors.

Challenge Battles

As you complete story chapters in Awakening, enemies will appear around the world map at random locations. If you move your army to these locations, you'll be given the option to enter into a challenge battle. These are battles against enemies of a variety of types and difficulties. The difficulty often depends on the location you're fighting at. These battles are often simple in nature, requiring you to merely clear out the enemy army to win. Also, they are often easier than the story chapter battles, and they provide a perfect opportunity for leveling up weaker characters. If there are no challenge battles available at the moment, you can also buy and use a Reeking Box to summon one. These battles are effective for obtaining gold, as 2 or more monsters usually carry small or medium Bullions. This money can be used to keep your army well armed.

Note: At higher difficulties, Reeking Boxes are much more costly, and are not an effective way to farm gold (e.g. - on Hard, a Reeking Box costs 4800 gold).

Bonus Teams

If you are out of enemies to fight, try accessing the SpotPass Bonuses menu for Bonus Teams. These teams can be summoned repeatedly for infinite experience. To best conserve your time and game resources, choose the right battle for gaining experience. Certain units like leaders or Thieves will give more experience than other units. At lower levels, fighting Amelia's group will waste time and weapons, while fighting Mathew's group will yield much more experience.

Note: On Lunatic difficulty, this and the StreetPass options are not recommended, as both only yield 1 experience per encounter, with any units in the battle (except for healing). The only recommended option for this kind of grinding without moving through the storyline is the DLC Content option (see below).

StreetPass

By connecting to other players through the 3DS' StreetPass feature, it's possible to access more bonus content for Fire Emblem: Awakening. After connecting to another player, you can battle custom armies they have selected for you to fight. This is a great opportunity to build up experience.

DLC Content

There are already plans for Fire Emblem: Awakening to receive a robust line of downloadable content to extend the game's play time. These DLC maps and battles are also another opportunity for you to strengthen weaker characters. To access DLC, head to the Outrealm Gate on the in-game map.

Keep Your Second String on the Sidelines

If you have a weaker unit you're hoping to level up, it only makes sense to bring them to battle to try and move them along. If you do this though, be sure to keep them away from the main fight, and instead look for moments of opportunity where they can score a few experience points without the risk of being killed. For instance, if there are some nearby archers you're intent on killing, send your training unit in to strike the first blow before one of your bigger soldiers finishes the job. Conversely, if one of your main fighters has left an enemy soldier just barely alive, send your soldier-in-training to finish the job so they can reap the rewards and collect the bonus experience points.

Another effective strategy when facing archers is to completely surround them with your units. This will leave the archer unable to move, and more importantly, unable to attack. Just make sure one of the surrounding units is the one you wish to level up, and have them attack the archer over multiple turns, until it dies. This is especially effective in leveling up Donnel, who is a fragile unit early on. Just be sure you don't try this strategy during a mission that has time sensitive objectives, as you might lose the mission while you were trying to level up.

Support Each Other

With the Support function being such a prominent component in Awakening, it just makes sense to develop your character's relationships as they build up their levels. Not only will this save you time later in the game, fighting alongside another character with whom they share a rapport with will help make them more effective in battle. It might only be a small advantage, but it can make all the difference.

Pair Up

One of the benefits of pairing a weaker unit with a stronger unit is that they will occasionally be able to help out in the stronger lead character's fights. They'll still be safe from damage, but they'll be able to deal a little damage, and gain some experience.

Reserve the Glitter

Scattered around most maps will be tiles on the map that are sparkling. Stepping on these will yield a random bonus item, weapon level experience, or best of all for weak units, free experience points. If you're training up a weak unit, always let them claim the glitter.

There is no Level Cap

You can use a Second Seal once you hit your level cap of 20, choose the same Class or a different Class, and you'll be returned to level 1 with all of your bolstered stats intact! Taking a different class will help make your character more well-rounded. Choosing the same class will increase (and likely max out) the better stats for that class. Doing both will result in much more powerful units. Promoting units with a Master Seal does not prevent the use of a Second Seal to start back at level 1 until you reach either level 10 for regular classes, or 30 for special classes.
